Showcasing the cultural heritage of Kakatiya dynasty through folk dances and musical programmes, Kakatiya Kala Vaibhava Mahotsavam was organised as a cultural gala here on Wednesday.
Organised by TSR Kakatiya Lalitha Kala Parishath at Shilpakala Vedika, the cultural fiesta rolled out a colourful extravaganza and had a series of performances that enthralled a packed audience.
A ballet by Padmaja Reddy and her co-dancers took the audience into the world of Kakatiyas and greatness of Rani Rudrama and recieved a standing ovation.
Ch. Vidya Sagar Rao, Governor of Maharashtra was the Chief Guest at the event which also had the presence of S Madhusudhan Chary, Assembly Speaker and Swamy Goud, Legislative Council Chairman.
As part of the event, TSR Kakatiya Lalitha Kala Parishath felicitated film actor M Mohan Babu and conferred him the title ‘Viswa Nata Sarvabhouma’ on the occasion of his 42 years film career and completion of 560 films.
Former Union Minister T Subbarami Reddy said “Kakatiya rulers who ruled for over 300 years from Warangal and showed special interest in arts and culture took the pride of Telugu people to the next level. Taking inspiration from them, I want to create the Kakatiya revolution in every part of the world”.
Speaking on the occasion, Madhusudhan Chary described Mohan Babu as one of the few talented actors who entertained audience of different generations and was the right person to receive the award during Kakatiya Kala Vaibhava Mahotsavam.
Actor Balakrishna, Director Raghavendra Rao, comedian Brahmanandam, actress Jaya Prada, Jayasudha, Shreya, others were present on the occasion.
